The Czechs Who Stunned America
The opening concert continues the celebration of the Year of Czech Music, which the Moravian Philharmonic celebrates not only on its home stage but also with seven concerts performed in Poland in autumn.
The introductory Concert Overture by Karol Szymanowski will be followed by a rarely performer piano concert by Antonín Dvořák. Marek Kozák, one of the most outstanding Czech pianists of the younger generation, will be featured as a soloist. The second half of the evening will belong to Bohuslav Martinů’s symphonic debut, originally written for the Boston Symphony. Thanks to this work, the then twenty-five-year-old Czech composer, who was forced to emigrate, gained the favour of the American public.
