Piano Recital of Karel Košárek
Pianist Karel Košárek is one of the most prominent Czech performers with a wide repertoire range. He is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician and collaborates with renowned orchestras, singers, including Magdalena Kožená, Roman Janál and Sonia Červená, and outstanding instrumentalists. In his Olomouc recital he will offer the audience a varied dramaturgy linking Czech music with the European piano tradition. The programme includes poetic and virtuosic works by Bedřich Smetana, Vítězslav Novák and Bohuslav Martinů, whose works are firmly rooted in Czech musical culture. Franz Liszt's three lyrical sonnets by Francesco Petrarch, his famous Un Sospiro and jazz-influenced compositions by Friedrich Gulda and Nikolai Kapustin will also be performed. The concert will thus offer a fascinating cross-section of piano literature from Romanticism to Modernism, combining lyricism, virtuosity and a novel musical language.
