Piano Recital of Karel Eichinger

29. 10. 2024

Reduta Hall, 19.00
R1

The Year of Austrian Culture in Olomouc will be enriched by the first piano recital from the renewed concert series offered to the Olomouc audience again this year. Karl Eichinger, a native of the Lower Austrian town Zwettl, will perform the works of his favourite American composer, George Gershwin. Apart from the piano version of Rapsody in Blue, precisely one hundred years since its composition and premier, we will also hear the composer’s preludes and a spectacular arrangement of the famous song Summertime. At the beginning of the 20th century, Paris was an important cultural centre along with New York. This period of musical history will be commemorated with Claude Debussy’s colourful Suite Bergamasque. A deeper musical past and Viennese classicism will be presented in Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 8, known as the „Pathétique“.
