Carols and Christmas melodies across Time and Continents
Experience the Christmas holidays with us with music from the Baroque period, as well as classical or romantic music. We begin with a charming work by Arcangelo Corelli, composed especially for the occasion of Christmas. Mozart’s joyful motet Exsultate Jubilate, which the composer composed during his stay in Milan, will be highlighted by Lucie Silken’s luminous soprano. A fixture in the repertoire of ballet companies around the world is The Nutcracker, especially during the Christmas season when whole families go to the theatre to see it. Tchaikovsky’s ballet music will also light up our Christmas concert. The atmosphere of Czech Christmas will be brought by Christmas carols arranged by Jan Vičar for choir and orchestra.
